We are very proud of our logo and all the things it means to us.
The island in it is a very distinct and recognisable wildlife sanctuary and erstwhile smugglers’ half-way house in the sea off the west coast of Scotland. It is the only place where the two types of special granite used in making curling stones come from and has only two houses and a lighthouse on it. This island is called Ailsa Craig.
Ailsa Craig is one of the most memorable sea views from the Isle of Arran, where we go for annual family holidays and from the Ayrshire coast, where Niven was born. It was this view which we were looking at when Ailsa Matilda was first felt kicking in her Mummy’s tummy by both of us together, and it is the inspiration for her first name.
The colours represent those that are often seen in these views of sea, sky, sun, storms, granite and grass.
The island design was drawn by Ailsa’s cousin, Amy Elizabeth Harris and the writing of ‘Ailsa’s Aim’ was produced by her cousin, Finlay Stuart Harris.
The shape of the island itself makes for a natural arrow-head shape and represents the aims that we have for our cause and the children’s contributions represent the sentiment behind it.
The logo means the world to us, as it draws together our precious daughter, our fond memories together and our hopes for the future… so it is the ideal way to represent our hopes for Ailsa’s Aim.
